Pantry Door - Make Over From Original Door.
How to turn your ordinary door into a " Custom Pantry Door " with out spending or paying an outrageous price. Save $$$
Time: 3 Days Cost: $100 Difficulty: Medium
Take the door, using your own door. (I forgot to get a prior picture, but this is the exact same door). You will wonder why the surroundings walls look different in the end. One ugly door
First we ordered a decal that said "Pantry" on line. Comes in many shapes and styles. (again no picture). Then we bought what is a window decal from Home Depot. * Many styles to choose from, we chose one that looked more like a window. Lots of pantry doors have windows which you can see through and see your mess. * These just stick to your windows for shade or stainglass look.
Here we designed out what we wanted the door to look like. Bought molding
to fit. This was inexpensive and we had white paint. Measured strips as to what we needed and cut corners at angles. Wanted to give the panel look. we chose 3 panels. 1. for Pantry, 2. for window look and 3rd for the lower panel. You may do your panels as you want. As you can tell we nailed and glued on the two areas of non painted molding first. You will find out why this was done first.
Now doing the panel which looks like a window is done now and done a little different. Here you need to cut the window film to fit and have the molding painted and ready to nail and glue on. (this could be a little more challenging )
Once you have everything and ready to go... nails & glue
Putting on the window covering... this is not glued on !! Just put it in place and use the plastic card (given with window decal) to press on and squeeze out bubbles or flaws. If needed this can be removed and replaced its not glued on.
Now place the painted molding around the middle panel (the window one).
Nail and glue it in place, overlapping the window decal to hold everything in place. Save the pantry decal for last, because now you will paint the whole door.
Now the whole door has been painted, all the molding , everything is done and you don't need to paint close to the window area so you don't mess up around it. If you think you can do it all at once then go ahead and put all molding on but I don't trust myself... When paint is all dry put on the pantry decal the same way ass you did the window decal... Its all done.
