Thrift Store Rescue


My home health nurse, who comes 3 times a week to change my wound vac since my surgery, knows I am a seamstress and love to do creative things tells me of this find of a roll top desk and her search for a desk chair at a thrift shop....

She saw this sweet baby and it had such potential she just had to buy it. Although she had no idea how she was going to fix it. She asked it I could help. And of course being bored, even though I'd never done anything like this -I jumped at it and said " bring it on"

After washing it down with Murphy's oil soap, I sprayed a coat of polyurethane on and it looked pretty good! So on to the seating...

She picked up the material she wanted, some foam she had at home and some brads.... And the journey began. Not nearly as hard as I thought! It only took an hour or so!

And there she is.... cost of chair $2 , supplies $15.

My nurse loved it so much that she brought over her ottoman and begged me to cover it to match! That took all of 20 minutes! Wow, I think I'm gonna start doing this stuff for myself now!
