Using Old Cabinet Doors for Wall Decor

I'm always on the hunt for cool furniture to update with paint and stain and was lucky enough to find this piece for $40 at a garage sale. I was able to give the cabinet itself a lovely makeover but didn't want to use the doors on it. You can see the cabinet makeover in my projects.

Since I love re-purposing things, I decided to use the doors for wall décor.
I started by removing the hardware and then removing the paint with paint stripper. Then I used a 120 grit sandpaper and my palm sander to get the remainder of the dark stain off.

It did take a while to get them down to the bear wood where I could stain them again. This time in a much lighter color.

Much better already. Once they were sanded and I had wiped off all of the residue from the dust, I stained them with Minwax stain in Dark Walnut. I love the way they came out.  The color is so pretty.

We put "D" ring hangers on the back with screws so that we could hang them on the wall.

I played with which way to hang them but ultimately ended up going vertical. Truth be told, it was much easier. :)  I added the faux boxwood wreaths for a farmhouse touch.

The fill in the space just as I had hoped.

I think I may take it a step further and use some mirror effect on the glass so that it looks more aged. I really like the way they came out
