Aged Books and Corbels

Using old books I picked up from goodwill and corbels from Lowe's. Turned into a quick and inexpensive DIY to add character to any area.

The corbels are from Lowe's

I used Minwax stain in Provincial to stain the corbels

Let dry

While the corbels were drying I took the covers off the books

I used white acrylic paint and painted the outside of the books

Using the same white paint I painted the corbels. It took about three coats to get the color I wanted

I used dark antiquing wax and aged the corners and edges

I added more white to the edges to lighten up the “aged”

Once the books were good and dried I tied them together with jute twine
