Valentine Day Wooded Heart

A great valentine day project

Things needed:

1. Fiber Board

2. Jigsaw

3. Duck tape

4. Hinges

5. Wood chisel

6. Hammer

7. screw driver

8. Glue

9. 3" Easel

Instruction:

Take a 1/4in 2ftx2ft fiberboard cut in half making it a 1ft x 1ft

This can make up to 18 hearts at 4"w 3 1/2"L even more if cut smaller

Drew a straight line a cross half of the 2ft fiberboard making it 1ft x 2ft with a jig saw or handsaw.

Take four pieces or more off duck tape roll,

Making four rolls out of the duck tape pieces that were cut off keeping the adhesive side turn out.

places the duck tape rolls on one of the halves of 1ft x 2ft fiberboard.

Open My Heart.

• 

Place the other half of the 1ft x 2ft Fiberboard as evenly as possible on top of the rolls of duck tape and press down.

Draw a half heart on piece of paper that is also folded in half cut it out using a pair of scissors.

Place the cut out heart on top of fiberboard and trace around it.

• 

Draw a  crooked line down the middle of the heart Take a jigsaw and cut the heart following the trace lines, then cut The top half of heart down the cooked trace line.

•

Trace the bottom and The two half top pieces of the heart with the hinge in the same way on all three pieces.

• 

Take  1/2in chisel and a hammer and indent along the line don't hit chisel too hard the fiberboard is soft just go down deep where the hinge will fix evenly with the fiberboard do this to all three part of the pieces of the heart, Insert hinge into the side where it was chiseled out to see if it have a good Fit.

Paint both sides of the heart pieces, let one side dry then paint other side and let dry.

Attach tops and bottom together with hinges, start by punching a starter hole for the screw that will lock down the hinges in the heart with a small nail this will make it easier to screw to the fiberboard.

• 

It is up to you what saying or pictures that you or your kids might want to add to the center of heart or designs. I get most of my clipart from google. Now places your masterpiece on a 3' easel.

This project will be a great handmade (Mother Day) gift did my son, daughter, or grandchild.  Trust me they will love it. This heart is showed open with the words ( I love you sweet heart)
