Christmas on the Front Porch

Last year we had just moved into our new home right before Christmas. Decorating the front porch was the last thing on my to do list as I still had lots of boxes to unpack. This year I wanted to make our front porch a cozy, inviting place that welcomed all our guests. I did completely with thrifted, recycled and repurposed items spending very little money.

This was our porch last year after we moved in - not a ribbon, not a wreath, not even a Christmas ball anywhere - just plain and un festive.

This is how it looks this year. Isn't it festive and welcoming for the holidays. Lets take a small tour.

This Christmas "tree" ladder is the show stealer. I got it at a yard sale a couple years ago for $5 and decided to decorate it this year. I used greenery from the back yard, lights I had, a new roll of ribbon for $2.88 and some red balls we had. The black urn in front was a dollar store urn I redid this Spring for the porch. I just added some
"faux" poinsettas and some more greenery.

This pine cone wreath I made in 2012 - it has kept quite well over the years. I have a tutorial for it here https://myhomecraft1.blogspot.com/. This is one of my favorite projects ever.

This little Pepsi wagon I found at a thrift store this summer when I was out thrifting. I had to have it because we had a Pepsi bottling company in our home town and it brought back some very fond memories. I filled it with greenery, "faux" red berries I had. "faux" Christmas packages made from cereal boxes and a string of lights. So festive and so cute.

This JOY sign I made by painting over an old canvas I had lying around waiting to be repurposed. It hangs above the second urn I bought this Spring.

Here is a front shot showing one of the three poinsettias I planted in the flower bed to give it a little more color and the candy cane lights that outline the flower bed itself. The posts are wrapped with clear lights and a strand of clear lights run along the eave of the porch.

This is how it looks at night. I love how cozy and welcoming it is and we have had several neighbors stop and comment on how pretty it is - simple yet festive. And it was all done with things I already had. This tour is also part of the Home for Christmas blog hop hosted by My Home Craft
