Wall Sconce Update Using Salt Wash Paint
I like to repurpose things that I have rather than always buy new. I had some wall sconces in the closet and wanted to try a salt wash painting technique to give them a new but worn look.
I started by cleaning the sconces and laying them out on a trash bag and prepared them for painting.
I mixed my own salt wash paint per google instructions. 1 cup paint, 1/8 cup salt, you can add water if consistency it too thick.
I applied the paint using a small paint brush. I set a fan in the room so they would dry quickly. Once they were dry I lightly sanded them with fine sand paper to expose some of the original colors.
I hung them on the wall next to large mirror in bathroom. I am really happy with how they turned out. The salt wash paint required very little sanding and was easy to work with. It will thicken up quickly so don’t add salt till you are ready to paint.
The finished product! They look so much better now!
